The FBN's participation was considered by UNCTAD as "the first UN meeting of its kind".

At the end of October, the Family Business Association - FBN International was invited to present the Polaris Model for Sustainable Business Development (http://www.fbn-i.org/sustainablility/) at the UNCTAD World Investment Forum in Geneva.

The event provided for the first time an opportunity for family companies to present their direction for long-term sustainable development to the public. Demonstrating shared values, strong intergenerational relationships, and an entrepreneurial flair, they can be a powerful motivation for long-term progress.

The presentation was in two panels:
I. How family businesses contribute to sustainable development goals in developing countries and beyond.
II. Future-oriented balance of efforts and benefits for family businesses.
