NxG Academy - February 2016
The first module of NxG Bulgaria Academy for 2016 was successfully passed. The event was organized by FBN NxG-Bulgaria.
It was attended by about 20 representatives of the next generation. The event took place from 26 to 28 February in Sofia and Velingrad and the topic of the first module was: NxG's entry into the family business - challenges, problems - personal development and motivation.
The premises of the companies Rotoprint and Euromarket were visited in Sofia, where the hosts of the Staykovi family and the Radevi family had taken care of every detail. In addition to the presentations of the young people, the representatives of the next generation received exceptional advice and guidance from the 1st generation, based on experience and wisdom and focused on their development, as representatives of the family business and the responsibility they have as heirs - namely - to deal with the task to preserve and develop the business in accordance with the increasingly changing environment, going their own way, gaining experience and learning from their mistakes.
After a walk around the Rotoprint printing house, which specializes in printing self-adhesive labels on a roll for automatic and manual gluing, everyone learned how many types of printing there are and what is the difference between intaglio and screen printing and different application techniques. After the demonstration of construction machinery and lifting equipment at Euromarket, some NxG representatives found that there was nothing easier than driving forklifts and similar equipment.
After visiting the businesses, the group went to Velingrad, where the next day the program continued with a practical seminar on: "How do you see your role and purpose in the family business and what motivates you?" The participants had to explore their own answers to the questions asked and gain a higher awareness of their vision regarding their personal and professional development and growth as leaders.
After a discussion at which the forthcoming initiatives and events of NxG International and NxG Bulgaria were announced and discussed, the President of the Association Mr. Atanas Simeonov gave his guidance and advice on the topics which concern each future representative of the family business on its way to continuous self-improvement and growth.
After the tense program, it was the turn of - Drumshot teambuilding, where we tried to create our own rhythm with different musical instruments, concentrate energy, and then achieve a meditative trance. I do not know if anyone succeeded with the latter, but certainly, we lifted the spirits and mood.
In the afternoon, the group went to visit a local family business (the so-called local touch), a factory that has been producing family heirlooms for many years, namely hand-woven rugs made only from natural materials (wool and cotton), part of which adorn the halls of Buckingham Palace. We saw one of the largest carpet mills existing and witnessed a demonstration where we learned that the knots and their number in a carpet affect both its quality and its cost.
The dinner took place in one of the most pleasant restaurants in the city "Tom and Nezi Classic" (family-run), where part of the group tryed the local delicacies of the owner Nezi-bean Sofenka and Velingrad sudzuk. Ms. Hristanova, who had a birthday and decided to share it with the group, taking an active part in the event, received a surprise cake and many congratulations from the others throughout the day.
The finale of the event was at the piano bar in the city, where the fun lasted until the wee hours.
